President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and reflecting on their decades-long journey together.
In a birthday message issued ahead of her birthday on September 21, Tinubu praised Oluremi for what he described as her patience, grace and courage throughout their life together. He said she had remained beside him during difficult periods, sharing his burdens and offering counsel.
The President also recalled the role of faith in their family life, saying Oluremi had remained calm during uncertain moments and prayed with him. He described her as someone who often recognised when he needed advice even before he asked for it.
Tinubu also highlighted her role in their family, saying their children and grandchildren had grown under the influence of her faith and values. He praised her for speaking honestly to him, describing that quality as one he had consistently valued in their relationship.
The President further referenced Oluremi’s humanitarian activities, including her involvement with the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos and the Renewed Hope Initiative. He said her work had reached young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers across Nigeria.
He also acknowledged her advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases, describing her as a compassionate advocate for people in need. Tinubu said her compassion extended beyond ethnic, regional and religious boundaries.
Reflecting on their relationship, Tinubu said the years they had spent together had included difficult decisions, sacrifices, laughter and prayer. He wrote that if he had the opportunity to return to the beginning of his life, he would choose the same path that led him to Oluremi.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you,”
He concluded the message by thanking Oluremi for the life they had built together and wishing her many more years in good health and happiness.
“Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi,” the President wrote, praying that the years ahead would bring her the same comfort and happiness she had given to him and others.
